Hi Stormy –
<<“Are there train stops along the way and if so, is there anything worth getting off to see before continuing along to St Moritz. “>>
You can determine the stops by using the timetable and expanding the information for any particular journey, after you enter start, finish and date.

<<“We will hike from St Moritz to Pontresina, suggestions for what to do/see in Pontresina and St Moritz would be a great help.”>>
Here are a couple of ideas:

What time will you arrive at St. Moritz? You might want to get off at Pontresina and go to St. Moritz afterward.

Hi Stormy,
If you hop off at Filisur there is a walk back to a viewing platform where you can get a great view of the Landwasser Viaduct. Time and fitness permitting you can hike to the bottom of the valley and look up at the viaduct. See last few posts on this thread http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/bernini-express/page/2
There’s also a “pub” at the Filisur Station where you can get a nice ice cold beer if that sort of thing appeals.

Thanks Slowpoke and rockoyster, we want to leave Chur early so we can see as much as possible. It’s been recommended to take our luggage to St Moritz first and then once we are luggage free, to hike back to Pontresina. Are there luggage lockers available at all stations if we decide to stop off along the way? The other thing to consider is , how long we would have to wait for next train to come along and can we get back on the train with the same ticket to continue the journey. We are newbies to this as you can tell, and are hoping to experience/see the best and most we can in a day. Filisur sounds great, how long would we need to allow and would you say easy, moderate or hard level?

Hi Stormy,
This page says you can leave luggage at Filisur http://www.rhb.ch/en/service-souvenirs/contact/cont act-stations/detail/filisu r#highlights
Have you considered sending your luggage from Chur to St Moritz? That would free you up to stop at Pontresina and hike to St Moritz. See http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/practical/luggage
TImetable link provided by Slowpoke above will give you and idea of when the next train comes along.
I haven’t actually done the hike but I’m sure Slowpoke will have the answers to your Filisur sounds great, how long would we need to allow and would you say easy, moderate or hard level?

Hi Rockoyster-
Sorry. I don’t. But the maps posted by Alpenrose are an example of the information available to size up the distance and elevation changes, and since they are shown as “red” hkes, you should have boots or sturdy shoes.

Hi Slowpoke,
Sorry I misinterpreted your post, with photography advice, on the other thread to mean that you had been to the spot below the Landwasser Viaduct.
Thanks for the extra links.

Hi rockoyster,
What I understood was that he did in fact go to the spot below the Landwasser Viadukt, but did not hike there from Filisur station. He walked in from the road, which is more-or-less down at riverbed level. So he wouldn’t have hiked the trail from Filisur station to the lookout, or down the hill from there to the riverbed. His starting point was probably the road seen at the bottom left of the aerial screenshot (attached).
