Hi, I wanted some advice on getting a itinerary ready for next week. We will be staying in Lauterbrunnen from Thursday pm til Sunday morning and plan to go upto Jungfrau and also do hikes around the area that are easy. Is it worth buying the jungfrau travel pass for 3 days? As we do want to visit murren, wengen and grindelwald. Are these places doable on foot or do we need to take a train?
Also really wanted to visit the place where there is a lake in front with snow capped mountains in the background. Anyone know the name of the name of that place (saw a pic somewhere but don’t know name)?

From Lauterbrunnen, you go to Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren by train. Three different itineraries. Too far to go by foot, in my opinion. You could hike back to L’Brunnen from Wengen if you want, or hike down from Kleine Scheidegg to G’Wald, but there are more interesting hikes in the area, such as from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg.
Hi Snowman, thanks for the response. Can you suggest a good hike which is easy and takes around a couple of hours? Also is it worth our while to get the travel pass (jungfrau) if we are travelling to wengen etc or is it better to do singles
Hi Debs, the lake with mountains you are thinking of may be Bachalpsee – take the train to Grindelwald and then the gondolas up to First, its a pleasant hike from there.

Hi Lucas, thank you for the response. I have now finally decided on what we want to see. We shall be doing following trips, Zurich – Lauterbrunnen, day 2 Lbrunnen to Jungfraujoch, hike around valley floor, day 3 Lbrunned to First then hike to bachalpsee and back, day 4 Lbrunnen – Zurich airport.
Please advice which pass would be appropriate in terms of cost effective.

To know for sure, which option is the cheapest, you’ll need to plan out all trip(s) you make for each day (use the timetable). You could also look at the Swiss Half Fare Card or the Jungfrau Travel Pass (this offers better coverage around Lauterbrunnen but not coverage between Interlaken and Zurich.
