Swiss Coupon Pass must-knows

  • The pass gives you “2-for-1” discounts on dining, city tours, museums, etc.
  • The pass is valid for one year from the activation date.
  • It’s best for couples because you can use one coupon per group.
  • If you are already maxing out your rail pass, the Swiss Coupon Pass might not be worth it. But if the Swiss Coupon Pass includes discounts that are not in your rail pass, then you can save a lot of money!
  • Buy the Digital Swiss Coupon Pass from shop.e-guma.ch, and get a 20% discount with the promo code AFFMYSWISSALPS.
  • I recommend getting the digital version, which is cheaper than the booklet.

What is the Swiss Coupon Pass?

It’s a set of 100 coupons, offering discounts on dining and things to do all over Switzerland. Each Swiss Coupon Pass works for 2 people. If you’re in a group larger than 2, you’ll need more than one pass, and you’ll have to split up because only one coupon is allowed per group.

Almost all discounts are “2-for-1” (you’ll get something for 2 people but pay for 1 only). Sometimes, you’ll get a percentage off.

There’s a version for all of Switzerland, and there are cheaper regional versions for only the north, east, south, or west of Switzerland. I recommend the version for all of Switzerland unless you are 100% sure you’ll visit only one region.

The Digital Swiss Coupon Pass costs CHF 39. You’ll get a 20% discount with the promo code AFFMYSWISSALPS at shop.e-guma.ch.

The paper version costs CHF 10 extra and can only be send to Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein (CHF 15 shipping fee) and Switzerland (free shipping). The promo code AFFMYSWISSALPS works for the paper version too.

What discounts are included in the Swiss Coupon Pass?

A full overview can be found here. I’ll first list my favorite discounts:

Boat trips

Mountains (cable cars, funiculars, cogwheel trains)

Various guided and self-guided city tours

  • Geneva
  • Lucerne
  • Lugano
  • Schaffhausen
  • Stein am Rhein
  • St. Gallen
  • Vaduz (Liechtenstein)
  • Zurich

Restaurants on mountain tops

  • Felsenegg (Zurich)
  • Muottas Muragl (St. Moritz)
  • Piz Nair (St. Moritz)

Museums

Miscellaneous discounts

  • Geneva City Pass
  • GoldenPass train upgrade to 1st class
  • Lavaux Express vineyard tour

Is it worth it?

Yes, especially if you’re a couple without a rail pass. Or if you do have a rail pass but find Swiss Coupon Pass discounts that your rail pass doesn’t offer, such as dining and city tours. In that case, you’ll likely save much more than the cost of the Swiss Coupon Pass.

No, if you have a rail pass, are already making full use of its benefits, and don’t have time for additional activities. It might also not be worth the hassle if you’re with a group of 2 or more.

How does the Swiss Coupon Pass work?

Assuming you’ll buy the cheaper digital version, this is how it works:

  1. Buy it from shop.e-guma.ch, and get a 20% discount with the promo code AFFMYSWISSALPS.
  2. You’ll receive a code via e-mail.
  3. On your phone, go to www.swisscouponpass.com and create a user account.
  4. Log in, and unlock all discount coupons by entering the code you received.
  5. Show the discount coupon at the attraction entrance or restaurant.

Page author: ArnoI have visited Switzerland countless times since 1997. I've explored most of the country, but find myself staying in the Bernese Oberland and Graubünden most frequently. The alps and the rail network remain very impressive, even after all these years.
