Stacey is planning her first international trip and is feeling anxious about getting from Murren to Zurich Airport on a Saturday before her flight. She needs the best route and is aware her Berner Oberland Pass will expire, but she still has the Swiss Half Fare Pass.
Key takeaways:
Take the route Murren – Grutschalp – Lauterbrunnen – Interlaken Ost – Bern – Zurich; the direct IC81 train from Interlaken to Zurich Flughafen departs every two hours, so plan accordingly.
The journey takes about 3 to 3.5 hours, so leave as early as possible to ensure time for check-in.
All connections, including cable cars, will be shown on the SBB timetable, so you can easily plan your trip.

Thank you so much for your detailed responses! This is very helpful. I do have a concern that the small train from Murren to Grutschalp and then the cable car won’t start running as early on a Saturday as I would like. I will check the link you left. Do those small connections show up on the SBB timetable? If not, where can I find those?
Just to add, yes, all your route, including the cable cars will be shown on the timetables. Once you have ‘chosen’ a departure time, click and it will detail all sections, including changes and if it is indeed a cable car, bus or train that you would be boarding.
