2. Coming from Australia, do we need warm clothes in first week of September?

There is also an excellent youth hostel in Interlaken Ost, which offers both dormitory and private rooms, but availability is already limited for September.

2. You can potentially encounter both warm and cold weather in early September, and temperature decreases with altitude of course. Dressing in layers is the key. You will find some useful information here:

3. Yes, the Eurail Pass covers all rail trips on the mainline trains, including the scenic trains such as the Glacier Express, Bernina Express, Gotthard Panorama Express and Goldenpass route. The Glacier Express, Bernina Express, Gotthard Panorama Express and Prestige Class on the Goldenpass Express have compulsory reservations at an additional cost. Discounts on other modes of transport with the Eurail Pass vary, so be sure to check the map of where it is valid.

Hi Curious84,

In addition to Alpenrose’s very helpful reply.  You’ll find in the Eurail Global Pass link provided, summaries of the Swiss inclusions.  This should help you on your way.

As mentioned by Alpenrose, if you are anticipating traveling on any of the scenic train rides, some of them will require seat reservations which are independent of the travel ticket or rail pass.  If you have dates in mind already, I’d try to secure the seat reservations as soon as they open up for purchase as they can sell out.
