Cannot find train tickets Lake Como to Interlaken

Short summary – read this first

A party of 4 adults is traveling from Lake Como to Lauterbrunnen on 22 June and feels stressed about booking train tickets. They've been checking various sites for connections but haven't found any results and are unsure if they're doing something wrong. They need urgent advice on how to secure their train tickets.

Key takeaways:
  • Book your tickets as early as possible, ideally 4 months in advance, especially for routes in Italy.
  • For the journey from Varenna to Interlaken, take the regional train to Milan, then an EuroCity train from Milan to Spiez, and connect to Interlaken OST from there.
  • If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, you only need to buy a ticket from Milan to Domodossola.
  • Consider taking the scenic route via Tirano and the Bernina Express to reach Interlaken.

We are a party of 4 adults traveling from Lake Como to Lauterbrunnen on 22 June. From my research on the forum, it was suggested to take the train from Varenna-Esino to Interlaken OST. It was also suggested to book as early as possible, typically 4 months in advance. I have been checking Trenitalia, Rail Europe, the SBB website, and others for months now and each time I enter my criteria, it returns no results. I am starting to panic! Shouldn’t tickets be available by now? Am I doing something wrong? I very much appreciate help and advice!

    Have you read http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.

From Varenna to Milan you’ll want a regional train ticket to Milan. From Milan try to connect the a EuroCity (EC) train through to Spiez for change to Interlaken.

Use http://www.trenord.it/EN/ for Varenna to Milan and SBB for balance of trip Milan to Interlaken Ost.

If you have a Swiss Travel Pass you only need a ticket Milan to Domodossola.

Another more scenic though longer alternative would be to train to Tirano and follow the Bernina Express route to Interlaken via Chur.

I’m afraid Italian railways are not known for being as efficient as Swiss railways…

As far as I know there is some sort of timetable change in Italy between now and late June so the Trenitalia computer is not showing any connections.
