Where can we see cows near Interlaken in mid April?
Maria and her friends are visiting Switzerland in two weeks, planning to explore areas around Interlaken, including Lakes Thun and Brienz, and sights like Grindelwald and Kandersteg. They want to know where they might see cows since the higher mountains will still be snowy during their trip.
- You can see cows grazing in the fields and meadows in Lauterbrunnen and on the route to Grindelwald.
- Consider visiting Kandergrund in the valley below Kandersteg for more chances to see cows.
- The Swiss Travel Pass could be helpful for travel around the region, so check if it fits your itinerary.

Hi, me and my friends will be visiting Switzerland in 2 weeks time. We will be based in Goldswil – Interlaken and weather and time permitting, we are planning on visiting the following on our full days in Switzerland:
Lake Thun – St Beatus Caves, Sigriswil Bridge , Thun & Spiez
Lake Brienz – Iseltwald, Giesbach Waterfalls, Brienz & Aare Gorge
Grindelwald, First & Wengen (maybe Lauterbrunnen if we have time but we had previously visited on a day trip from Lucerne)
Niesen, Lake Blausee and Kandersteg
We are aware that the cows will not be on the Mountains at the time, since these are still covered in snow. However, is there a place where we can see some cows in the vicinity, in the lower altitudes ?
Thanks,
Maria
