Farmers markets Montreux, Wengen, Lucerne in Sep

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a trip to Zermatt after visiting the summer market in Vevey, which ends in August. They want tips on whether to include Vevey in their itinerary and are seeking recommendations for other local markets near Montreux, Wengen, and Lucerne during this time.

Key takeaways:
  • Visit the summer market in Vevey on Tuesday or Saturday before heading to Lavaux vineyards for local flavors and souvenirs.
  • Check out the farmers market along Rathausquai in Lucerne on weekend mornings, but don’t make a special trip just for it.

We love to visit local markets when traveling for local flavors and souvenirs. The touristy and recommended summer market in Vevey will end in August but they run a market on Tuesday and Saturday. Weighing if a stop here should be included prior to a visit to the Lavaux vineyards. We are headed to Zermatt that afternoon and want to maximize our time in this area. Are there other local markets at this time of year that should not be missed near the vicinity of Montreax, Wengen, and Lucerne?

Hi dootle and welcome to My SwissAlps.

I recall a farmers market on weekend mornings along the Rathausquai on the north bank of the Reuss. It is not very large, and I don’t think I’d make a detour for it, but, if you are in Luzern then you could easily take a look.
