Geneva to Matterhorn in one day
Ravi is planning a day trip from Geneva to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn but needs some advice on travel options. He wants to know whether to get a rail pass or individual tickets, how to reach Matterhorn from Zermatt, and if a rail pass will save him money on fares. Since he’s short on time, he’s considering alternatives like Montreux instead.
- Consider visiting Gornergrat or Klein Matterhorn for great views of the Matterhorn, as you can't get close to it directly.
- A Swiss Half Fare Card can save you money on mountain trains and gondolas during your visit to Zermatt.
- For the Montreux and Rochers-de-Naye trip, regular tickets are sufficient, but checking for Supersaver tickets can offer additional savings.

Hi,
I am planning a day trip from GVA to Zermatt to Matterhorn. I am here just for one day so I will not be travelling elsewhere. Can you please advise on:
1) Which rail pass I should take for this trip? Or should I book individual tickets?
2) How do you reach Matterhorn from Zermatt and how much time I should keep for Zermatt to Matterhorn trip?
3) Will taking any rail pass for a day benefit me in rail fares and cable car fares?
Thanks,
Ravi
