Glacier Express or regional SBB trains?
Dr. Nisarga is planning a trip from Zermatt to Chur in May and wants to know whether to take the open SBB train or the Glacier Express for photography opportunities. He’s curious if both travel at the same speed and which option is better for capturing great views.
- There are no SBB trains on the Glacier Express route; the trains on that route are operated by the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn and Rhätische Bahn.
- For better photography, local trains with opening windows are recommended, as the Glacier Express does not have this feature.
- Local trains require more stops, which may increase travel time, even though their speed is the same as the Glacier Express.

Hi all,
I am planning to travel from Zermatt in may to Chur. As suggested by some it is better to travel by OPEN Sbb train than closed Glacier express in the same route. Open trains are better and camera friendly? The speed is same for both?
Regards,
Dr Nisarga
