Hi

We plan to be in Lauterbrunnen late May (3 days) and Zermatt(3 days) . Can you please suggest few easy scenic trails which will be open during 24- 28 May. According to website Manilichen and Grindelwald First will be open during said period. Will the trails be ready as well? If not please suggest alternatives. Many Thanks. Chinthika

You’ll find some hiking suggestions for the Jungfrau region and Zermatt in the attached link, just filter by town:

The lower altitude trails in the Jungfrau region should be accessible, though do check in with the local tourist information office nearer the time, to see if the trails are open.  It really is weather dependent.  Some possible suggestions in the meantime below:

Whilst in Zermatt, this will be trickier, as most open June time.  The one below could be open but again best check with the local tourist office when you are there:

Looking at the map for the easy valley trail, I see a bus stop at Tumberach Falls.  Could it take us back to Lauterbrunnen if we cant make all the way to Stechelberg?

Yes, you can do that.  From memory, I think it’s bus number 141.  You can research this journey using the Swiss timetable:  https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/public-transport/timetable/
