Is there any snow in Switzerland mid April 2018?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a trip to Switzerland in mid-April and wants to know where they can expect to see snow. They are particularly interested in cities at higher elevations for sightseeing, rather than skiing. It seems they are exploring options like St. Moritz, Davos, and Zermatt for their snowy experiences.

Key takeaways:
  • Expect to find snow primarily in the mountains by mid-April; lower elevations will likely be snow-free.
  • St. Moritz, Davos, and Zermatt are good options for higher elevation towns that may have some snow.
  • The Jungfraujoch offers stunning views and access to permanent snowfields year-round, making it worth a visit.

Hi aesyah and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, you will probably only get snow in mid-April once you get up into the mountains. You never know about snow in the lower elevations but I think it would be doubtful by then.

Where are you staying? Some towns are at higher elevation than others and may have some snow if you are lucky.

    Hi,

Did you want to ski, or just have a look? Snow is really only reliable in the mountains, although it can snow anywhere during winter and the ski season ends in April. Places like Zermatt have cable cars that can carry you up to the permanent snow fields all year round and the Jungfraujoch is just amazing.

    Have Fun

Hi thanks Lucas. Actually I want to experience snow in the city. Can I know what city is at higher elevation? Maybe I can stay they 2 or 3 nights.

Hi thanks AlanPrice for your feedback. Am not planning to ski, just for sightseeing. Is st moritz worth to go at that time?

St. Moritz is one of the higher elevations at about 1800 meters. Davos, Zermatt and Mürren are all around 1500/ 1600 meters and would probably be your best bets for snow in the town you are staying at (without going up to the mountains).
