4-5 days Switzerland, solo male backpacker

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is flying from Split to Geneva on July 15th and plans to explore the Swiss Alps for 4-5 days before heading to Chamonix on the 20th. They want to visit Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Jungfraujoch, Zermatt, and Aletsch glacier but are unsure of the best way to manage their itinerary due to incoming storms. They will be using the four-day Swiss Travel Pass for transportation.

Key takeaways:
  • Check the weather forecasts daily as storms usually occur in the late afternoon or evening.
  • Utilize the transport timetable and hiking maps to plan your trips effectively.
  • Consider guided excursions like the 2-day Aletsch glacier walk starting from Jungfraujoch for a memorable experience.
  • Inform someone about your hiking plans and check in upon arrival at remote locations.

Hi, I will be flying from Split to Geneva late on July 15th and spend the next 4-5 days exploring the Swiss Alps before moving on to Chamonix on the 20th. Things I would like to see include Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Jungfraujoch, Zermatt, and Aletsch glacier, but not sure best how to accomplish this. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather and see that storms are forecast for most days. I’m a strong hiker and have my equipment for via ferratas as well, however, thunderstorms would likely preclude climbing. I will be using the four day Swiss pass to get around.
