Milan to Switzerland
A traveler is planning a two-day trip in March, ending their journey in Milan. They want to explore Switzerland, specifically using the Bernina Express, and need suggestions for a nice place to spend the night in the Alps before returning to Milan. They are looking for practical advice to make the most of their short visit.
- Consider taking the Bernina Express to St. Moritz, where you can enjoy the stunning views and possibly stay overnight.
- If you prefer a different route, travel to Zermatt via Domodossola and Brig for excellent scenery and activities.
- Utilize the Swiss Travel Pass for easy access to trains and discounts on local attractions.
- Don’t forget to check train schedules for convenient connections back to Milan.

We are planning a trip in March through Italy and will end up in Milan. Would like to visit Switzerland. Thinking about taking the route of the Bernina Express (but on one of the trains you can get on and off) so we can spend the night in Switzerland. Our stay in Milan is already paid for so will leave our luggage there, but want to spend a night in the Alps, then return back to Milan the following day. We will fly home from Milan. Any suggestions as to where we should go? We know we could spend weeks in Switzerland and wish we could, but will have to appreciate the 2 days we have available. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
