Munich to Switzerland, Swiss Half Fare Card?
-
Hello
We will be traveling from Munich to Switzerland.
Our itinerary is as follows:
4 days Lucerne
4 days Interlaken
2 days Zermatt
1 night Chur
We have made reservations for the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Chur and the Bernina Express from Chur into Italy via Tirano. We haven’t made any plans yet within these locations. We plan to visit Bern, Jungfrau, and some of the smaller villages in the Berner Oberland.
I have two main questions:
1. If we purchase the Half Fare Card, can we book our tickets from Munich on SBB using the half-fare discount? The site says we will need a physical card as opposed to a digital copy. Our other option is to book Munich-St. Margrethen on bahn.de and then book the Swiss portion separately.
2. Based on the itinerary above, is just a half-fare card our best option? I don’t think we will move around enough to justify a Swiss Pass, but maybe some combination of Saver Passes?
Thank you in advance!
