Here is our suggested list of hotels in Zermatt: https://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt/hotels
Zermatt is a car-free destination, mode of transport is by foot or the electric buses that Ventsislav mentions in his reply. More information on Zermatt can be found here: https://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt

La Couronne offers a great view of the Matterhorn from their south facing balconies and overlooks the Kirchstrasse below. They were in the process of adding a spa when I was there last summer, so that is something new that I haven’t seen yet. They are now a 4 star hotel. Breakfast is served in a glass greenhouse type of room which also affords a nice view. They have updated their web site since last year – I just took a look at it and think it doesn’t do the views justice – it is rather dark with small photos. My photos aren’t the greatest but these were taken from my balcony, except for the glass breakfast room. Unfortunately, clouds obscured the Matterhorn in some of these. We enjoyed wine and cheese on our balcony, and watching the activity below. Even though that is a busy area during the day, it was quiet at night for sleeping. The hotel desk staff were very pleasant and helpful, but that has been my experience wherever I’ve stayed in Zermatt. Can’t wait to return.

I stayed in Le Petit Charme-Inn June 2018 and it was lovely, a small and cozy hotel. We had two rooms, both really nice. I was surprised at how nice it was for the cost. The hotel is located in Zermatt center, just a 7-minute walk from the ski elevators, and 10 min walk from train station, it offers a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Matterhorn Mountain, a ski storage room and free WiFi.

Hi calvin Ang,
I’m not sure how familiar you are with Google maps, but there is a wealth of info on there. If you zoom in in Zermatt, (or any city/village, etc) you will see a ton of hotels in the little ‘icons’, usually a dark pink color with a bed on it. Usually they will denote how many stars the hotel has, not always, but a lot of times. If you click on those icons, the hotel info will come up. Again, a wealth of info there (restaurants, bars, busines in general). Also on this site there are plenty of offerings as well. I happened to use Booking.com and had absolutely not one problem on my whole two week trip. There are many sites one can choose from. Hotels. com, Trip Advisor, Travelocity, etc. (When in Zermatt, the receptionist there told me I could have saved money by booking directly with the hotel itself. Unfortunately, that hotel is undergoing renovations now.)
Just be aware that any place you look at, the lowest quoted price will not have a view of the Matterhorn. Many will say “mountain view”, but, again they are the lower prices designed to catch your eye. You want one that specifically says “Matterhorn view”. So just keep that in mind when looking. Yes, it will cost more, but if you want that particular view, that’s the way it will be. Basically you want a south facing balcony/room. Also, FYI, hotels near the train station, on that side of the street, are to close to the valley wall to see the Matterhorn. And most of the hotels are no more than a 10-15 min walk from the train station. Have a great time.
Regards,
Danielsan

Hi calvin ang,
Zermatt is a fairly small resort and you can explore it on foot in half a day or less: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/zermatt.
Zermatt is also car-free but there are local buses and taxis to take you around: http://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt/travel
On a clear day, it’s possible to see the Matterhorn from anywhere in Zermatt but for a closer view, we recommend taking the cogwheel train up to Gornergrat. If you prefer a view of the centre of Zermatt instead, I recommend choosing a hotel on a slightly elevated position such as The Omnia or Beausite Zermatt.

Thank you Anna for your hotels information… yes I plan to see to the gornegrat and the glacier paradise, is it possible to visit both places in a single day from morning?

Hi calvin ang,
Yes, it’s possible to combine excursions to Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in one day. I suggest one mountain in the morning and the other in the afternoon. You can find information on how to plan your trip below:
