Hiking/exploring itinerary Switzerland, 8-9 days

Short summary – read this first

Jen and her sister are planning a trip to Switzerland next fall, looking for a recommended itinerary with beautiful day hikes, some easy lakeside bike rides, and time to explore local towns. They are active travelers in good shape and seek advice on the best hiking routes and towns to visit.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider using Luzern and Wengen as base camps for day hikes; both towns have great access to hiking trails and local transport.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass can be very useful for unlimited train travel across scenic routes, making it easier to explore different regions.
  • Check out reputable hiking resources for detailed trail information and guides to public transport connections.

    Hello,

My sister and I are planning to visit Switzerland next fall (probably September) and are looking for a recommended itinerary that includes several beautiful day hikes, maybe an easy lakeside bike ride or two, and then several days of exploring local towns. Has anyone done a trip like this and is willing to share their itinerary? We are open to which towns and mountains to hike. We are both active and in pretty good shape, having completed the Inca Trail in Peru earlier this year.

We were going to use this site to plan some hikes – is this a good reference site?

    Thanks in advance!

    Jen
