Flexible 10-day itinerary full of spectacular hikes in the Swiss Alps 

Annika helped us plan our Switzerland adventure. With her guidance, which included recommendations based on our interests, tutorials on using the SwissTravelPass and the SBB app, etc…; and, with her patience as we flipped and flopped our plans (haha), we had a fantastic trip. I highly recommend downloading the SBB app prior to your trip, practice using it, and even save your train itineraries. This made for seamless movement thru the train stations and Switzerland! Use the website to learn and plan your trip.

Working with Annika was excellent. She responded promptly and thoroughly. I gave her my ideas for my Swiss trip and she wrangled them into a doable plan. She also understood that I needed flexibility for part of my trip so gave me plans that helped me adjust due to weather. No one wants to hike or paraglide in the rain.

Very happy with the itinerary and choice of hotels. We managed to use the trains suggested – was a little hard humping the luggage around stations but we got to see so much more of the country than being driven around. Overall it was a really great trip and My Swiss Alps definitely were a big part of that.

A 5/5 star rating is not really adequate for MySwissAlps because they are a 10 star travel agency! My husband and I had been wanting to visit Switzerland since we were married almost 30 years ago – it literally was on the top of our bucket list for that long. As I began researching traveling Switzerland by rail (hours and hours of research!) I was having a hard time finding an itinerary that matched what we were looking for – staying in smaller villages, off the beaten path, and having access to lots of hiking trails. Somehow after weeks of searching online, I stumbled on MySwissAlps. As I began to read how they help travelers customize their itinerary to their specific wishes, I felt like I had hit the jackpot! I admit I was hesitant to get too excited as I thought a customized itinerary was sure to be WAY more expensive than the pre-planned itineraries on other websites. But I filled out the questionnaire about what I was looking for anyway thinking it didn’t cost anything to at least give them a try. What I experienced from Annika at MySwissAlps from then on was nothing short of outstanding service! I submitted my form one evening and had an email from her when I awoke the next morning! And, that service never wavered as the process continued – the most prompt replies EVERY.SINGLE.TIME! If I had a question or needed info from her, it was only a matter of hours and she was back in touch. For instance, when I was ready to purchase the package she designed for me, I had some difficulty on my end with my credit card being accepted (we discovered it was definitely a problem on my end and not with MySwissAlps or the Switzerland Travel Centre). Annika stuck with me and negotiated with STC to get me back to the original lower package price since costs for hotels, etc are constantly changing. My husband and I were constantly astonished at the customer service. I truly cannot remember an experience EVER when I’ve been more pleased with a company. I could go on and on about every detail that Annika put in our itinerary to make our trip go so smoothly – from maps showing how to walk from the train station to our hotels, to the best places to eat (with different types of cuisine), to out of the mainstream hiking trails, to how to easily manage the train system. And the best part? Our personalized itinerary cost LESS than a pre-planned package that went places we were not interested in! We feel so well taken care of and this company is simply the best if you are looking for a customized itinerary. While it’s still 5 weeks until we travel, my husband and I have already decided if we get to return to Switzerland someday, the one non-negotiable thing will be that we use MySwissAlps again! Overall, we had a very good trip. My Swiss Alps could not be held accountable for the 90° plus days that we endured. Train trip to Lacorna was beautiful. We did not go to Bellinzona To see the castle grande, as it was 95° and walking, even a couple blocks produced a drenching sweat. The hotel Maggiore was five star in every way. Luckily, we were able to eat at the restaurant in the hotel as every other one we looked at had no air conditioning or wanted to forgo the cost of closing doors and windows and having air conditioned indoor dining. It would be repetitive to talk about further trains because they were all very good.. The extra space of first class was worth the cost. . In Lucerne the Hotel Schweizerhof was a well earned five star. Their concierge was one of the two best we have ever used. The old town was much like many other old towns in Europe. Again it was 94° so we didn’t walk a whole lot. likewise, the cogwheel train was deleted secondary to heat. We substituted the transport, museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food in the hotel restaurant was Michelin quality. The Victoria, hotel and spa in Interlochen was five star. Although still very hot, we did take the funicular and enjoyed the fantastic views. Food in the hotel was outstanding. At this point things began to fall apart. All trains from Brig to Zermatt were canceled due to”natural event” and there was no assurance that they would be open the next day. To put it mildly the hotel ambassador was a 1 star hotel. No air-conditioning and the lowest temperature in our room that night was 84°.Our included meal was a shoe leather pork chop. Of note, was that terrible meal was in the same restaurant that had a 4-5 star menu for patrons coming to eat not getting an included meal. We then improvised and became our own travel agent and moved our next afternoon glacier express to the morning at an additional cost of over Fr.100.The SBB clerk who helped was the best thing in Brig. It was worth it to leave Brig as quickly as possible .There really isn’t anything in Brig. Seeing that there wasn’t going to be any air-conditioning in our hotel at Chur we just continued on to Zurich. My wife took over as travel agent and secured a room at the hotel Marriott in Zurich which was very good. I took over the ground transportation. At this point, I felt very confident in dealing with the train system in Switzerland. We stayed at the.Storchen which was very enjoyable and has a Michelin restaurant. Wonderful meal. Long delays in the hotel due to an inadequate one elevator operation that was used not only by the guests, but room service and housekeeping. What a beautiful city Zürich is, and we enjoyed the beautiful sites and outstanding museums.We stayed our last night in the Radisson Blue at the airport to ease the logistics of navigating the airport. Both incoming and outgoing we were stuck in the terminal, not connected to the main airport. You walk about half an hour or more to get to your gate. I would recommend that anyone leaving fairly early, to stay at one of the hotels at the airport.

I was feeling so overwhelmed in planning 3 weeks in Switzerland and then additional time in Austria. This forum had so many friendly answers to my questions plus more. So much information! Great resources for planning our adventure! The professionally written articles are great in themselves, but the icing on the cake is the great responsiveness to questions; there is so much information that they freely provide with advice, links, etc no matter the itinerary, budget, or interests. I received a quote that was not in my budget, and they were happy to suggest I book my trip on my own and provided personalized resources, with no pressure to increase my budget or attempts to pressure me into using their paid service. It is not working out for this trip, but when I make a return trip I’ll definitely consider using them again.

MySwissAlps did an amazing job planning our trip. We were in Switzerland for 11 days and we covered alot of ground in that time. Arno and his team did an excellent job giving pointers and guiding us on how much time we should spend at each location. They arranged our hotels to be very convenient to the train stations. All of the hotels were clean and welcoming with friendly hosts. Most had restaurants that were fantastic. Most all of the complimentary breakfasts were much more than just a cold continental breakfast. Also, the Swiss rail pass that Arno booked for us exceeded our expectations. It is well worth the money and provides so much freedom. We couldn’t be happier with our vacation and will definitely use MySwissAlps travel group again!
