Most of the big Swiss lakes are at low altitude so won’t be too cold. But in October the green trees will be yellow – the autumn colours are nice around the lakes

You want to stay right on a lake? Or as a day trip from Zurich?
Near Zurich (other than Lake Zurich) you could look at the Walensee.

If the temperature is important to you, the south of the country is best (on average). But that’s not close to Zurich. More information is here:

You could also look at the Bodensee (Lake Constance) , Zugersee, Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) or Lungernerssee as well then.

I’m going with what Arno said. Late October for warm weather in switzerland is not Zürich… Better to try Lugano.
