The Lake Zurich area
The Lake Zurich region is one of the most densely populated areas of Switzerland. Still, the landscape is quite scenic with the large lake, many charming villages along the shores and gentle green hills.
The vibrant city of Zurich, with its old town center, adds to the appeal. It's not the Alps, but it's a very attractive region with a lot of culture and nature. Despite all human activity, attractive hiking routes and forests are close by.
Apart from the shops and museums in Zurich, you can consider a boat trip over the lake, a visit to lakeshore towns such as beautiful Rapperswil, or a ride with the Voralpen-Express that crosses part of this lake area. Chocolate lovers will appreciate the Lindt 'Home of Chocolate' and the large outlet store in Kilchberg.
