I am trying to reserve VIP seats on the Golden Pass Express from Lucern to Montreux on the 26th. of December, also reserve seats day return St. Moritz to Tirano on the Bernina Express or the panoramic car attached to the regional train on the 7th. of January but having great difficulty. We hold 1st. Class Swiss Travel Flex passes. Help would greatly appreciated.

Bookings don’t seem to be open for that date yet, as their systems apparently aren’t accepting any bookings beyond the end of the 2016-17 timetable period, which ends on 9 December. However, the 2017-18 timetable was released on 18 October, so their systems should be updated shortly. I would just keep trying every day, and one day soon it should work. If not, please be more specific about what is not working.

The VIP seats are only available on the Zweisimmen-Montreux sector, and only on the 12:25 and 18:25 departures from Zweisimmen, so you will need to choose connecting trains Luzern-Interlaken Ost-Zweisimmen to connect with the appropriate departure from Zweisimmen.

If you are using the site below, it is accepting reservations for 7 January. I tried booking up until the stage where you select seats, and it worked OK. What specific difficulties you are experiencing?

Thank you very much Alpenrose666, I used your link for the Bernina Express however I cannot find reservations only. I get right to the end after choosing times and seats then I am asked to pay when we hold 1st. Class passes. I cannot find where to request reservation only. I am sure the solution is simple but I cannot find it!

Possibly, the issue is that your Swiss Travel Pass pays for the ticket for the route, but not for a seat reservation and the computer may not understand that?

How much do they want you to pay? That might give a clue. If it is 5-10 CHF, that is for a seat reservation only.

Just go through the process as if buying a ticket, then after putting in how many passengers there are, a “Tickets/Reductions” box will appear for each passenger, with a drop down list. Choose your pass from the drop-down list, and it will calculate the cost for the reservation only. It will cost you CHF 10 each.
