Swiss Travel Pass vs Bernese Oberland vs Half fare card

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Tushar_garg is planning a trip from Paris to Interlaken in the first week of June. They will spend 3 nights in Interlaken and 1 night in Zurich while visiting attractions like Harder Klum, Jungfraujoch, and Rhine Falls. They are seeking advice on the best rail pass for their journey.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider getting the Swiss Travel Pass for local travel in Switzerland, as it covers many attractions and trains.
  • If traveling across multiple countries, the Eurail Global Pass might be a convenient option since it’s valid on Swiss trains as well.
  • Combining the Swiss Travel Pass with point-to-point tickets for travel to and from Paris and Florence can be a good strategy.

    Hello lovely people,

I read quite a few posts but couldn’t get come to a conclusion. We are travelling from Paris to Interlaken in June first week. We are a family of 5 (all adults) and would be spending 3 nights in Interlaken and 1 night in Zurich. We would be visiting Harder Klum, Jungfraujoch, Rhine Falls, possibly Schilthorn. We will then continue our journey from Zurich towards Italy (Florence).  What should be our preferred choice of pass? Thank you in advance 🙂

    Hi Tushar_garg,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

If you are travelling across multiple European countries, you might want to consider getting the Eurail Global Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/eurail-global-pass/). This pass is also valid on Swiss trains including in Interlaken. It’s convenient if you just want to use 1 single rail pass for your Europe trip.

Alternatively, based on your plans, a good option would be to combine a Swiss Travel Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/) with point-to-point tickets from Paris and to Florence.

    Hope this helps.
