A traveler, mbprajapati, is planning a trip to Switzerland in July and wants advice on whether to buy a travel pass or point-to-point tickets for their train journey. They have a three-day itinerary that includes routes from Lucerne to Andermatt, Andermatt to St. Moritz on the Glacier Express, and St. Moritz to Zurich.
Key takeaways:
Consider purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass for three consecutive days to save money on your planned routes.
Book the Glacier Express tickets and reservations in advance, as they are required to travel on that route.
Check other websites to compare prices for point-to-point tickets, as they can fluctuate slightly depending on where you buy them.

Which option is best depends on all of your planned transportation, so also any day trips by cable car/boat/bus/train, and the transfer to Lucerne from your starting point. If you list all of that here, plus the number of days you’ll be in Switzerland, we might be able to recommend one option or the other. I assume you’ll be traveling on your own? If children are involved the outcome might be slightly different as they travel for free if the parent has a pass.

Are you traveling those routes over 2 or three days or spread out over your holiday? If you are doing those routes over 1-3 days, for example, a Swiss Travel Pass for 3 days might be a good option.
Then Lucas’s option is a good one. Or alternatively you can look into Saver Day Passes, but you would need to book those well in advance and read about the limitations first: http://www.myswissalps.com/on edaytravelpass/details.
Thanks. I will check for Travell Pass. On myswissalps.com, there are passes listed and also given the websites where I can buy. However, on SBB. ch, I couldnt find information about passes. Is SBB not the official train ticket website?
The reservation is separate from the ticket. It does not matter where you buy your ticket. You can buy it as explained in my previous post, from where you prefer.
Ok thanks. I will mostly go with point to point as i will be only travelling 3 times in 3 days. Usually, how advance they allow to bookitcket online for glacier express and other?
