Swiss Travel Pass and tickets for attractions
A traveler is planning a trip to Interlaken and Lucerne in mid-October and is looking for guidance on ticketing while using the Swiss Travel Pass. They want to know if they need separate tickets for boat rides on Lake Lucerne or Lake Thun, the cogwheel train to Mt Pilatus, and the cable cars to Schilthorn or Jungfrau.
- You can board the boat using your Swiss Travel Pass without getting a separate ticket.
- Present your Swiss Travel Pass at the Pilatusbahn ticket window to receive a free round trip ticket for the cogwheel train.
- You can buy tickets for the Jungfraujoch at any staffed railway station, including Interlaken West, and your Swiss Travel Pass offers a discount.
- For the Schilthorn, tickets can be purchased at cable car stations just before your trip, and your Swiss Travel Pass also provides a 50% discount.

Questions for our trip to Interlaken/ Lucerne in mid October:
If you already have a Swiss Travel Pass, do you still go to the boat ticket window and get a ticket for a boat trip on Lake Lucern or Lake Thun? Or can you just show your Swiss Travel pass and get on the boat.?
What about Mt Pilatus? How does the ticketing process work if i take the boat ride first? Do i need a separate ticket(s) for all the different legs of the trip?
Finally if I go up to the Schilthorn or Jungfrau, do I just buy my ticket for the cable car up once i get to the cable car station from Interlaken? Or can I buy it at Interlaken West train station which will be my starting point?
Thanks in advance for the clarification on this.
