    Hi Beth!

It’s no problem at all to upgrade to 1st class for separate trips. You can buy upgrade tickets for specific routes or even for an entire day: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/train/classes/

To get a 1st-class instead of a 2nd-class Swiss Travel Pass, you’d have to cancel your order (usually at a cancellation fee) and buy another pass: https://www.myswissalps.com/details/buy-swiss-travel-pass/

    Does this help you out?

    Hello!
You can actually upgrade to 1-st class for specific boat trips just before you board at the ticket counter.

    Hi Beth,

Definitely! For the Glacier Express ride, I’d recommend purchasing a 1-day Class Upgrade, as that’s likely to be cheaper than a route-specific upgrade.

If you’re not sure about buying your upgrade online through the SBB app, no worries: you can arrange for it at a manned station in Switzerland too. Such class upgrades don’t sell out, so theoretically, you can still do this minutes before the Glacier Express departs. As long as you have your 2nd-class Swiss Travel Pass, upgrade ticket, and Glacier Express seat reservations when boarding, you’re all set.

Remember that you’ll also need 1st-class Glacier Express seat reservations if you want to enjoy this trip in 1st class. It’s best to arrange for those well in advance: seats do get sold out, sometimes even months in advance:

    I hope this helps!
