Ticket for day trip Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mürren

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named NannyNorman is visiting Interlaken and has planned a trip to Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, and Gimmelwald, with some exploration time at each spot. They want advice on the best ticket to buy through the SBB app for this journey, particularly regarding the costs and flexibility of the tickets.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider buying a point-to-point ticket for CHF 24, which allows you to get off at Lauterbrunnen and Mürren.
  • If you're planning multiple journeys, the Swiss Half Fare Card for CHF 120 could save you money on public transport for a month.
  • Download your Swiss Half Fare Card as an e-ticket to show on your smartphone, so you don’t need to print it.

    Hi NannyNorman,

Do you have any kind of rail passes?

Interlaken – Mürren (via Grütschalp) costs 18.80 CHF without any pass.

Gimmelwald – Interlaken (via Stechelberg) coscts 18 CHF without any passes.

You cn check the prices in the timetable.

If you buy a normal ticket, then yes, you can get off in Lauterbrunnen and look around then continue your trip. The point is that you have to travel on the chosen day.

If you buy SuperSaver ticket, you are not flexible, you have to travel on the chosen day and chosen train.

Read more about the differences: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland.

Prices via SBB app and SBB homepage are the same.

Note that the default prices, shown on SBB are half prices (as you would have a Swiss Half Fare Card). Make sure you check it and buy a whole fare if you do not have that pass.

Hi Ildiko, this the point to point ticket description in SBB mobile.

One-way or return ticket in Switzerland in

1st or 2nd class. Period of validity: 1

calendar day until 05:00 a.m. the following

    day. Reduced fare with Half-Fare

Travelcard, children from their 6th to 16th

    birthday.

Im just confused about ‘Reduced fare with half fare Travelcard,’

Is this ticket is only for Half-fare travelcard?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi NannyNorman,

Based on the information you provided, the CHF24 is the standard price for a single journey (not discounted). This ticket is only valid for the outward journey.

A return ticket Interlaken Ost – Mürren (via Lauterbrunnen and Gimmelwald) cost roughly CHF46 without a railpass.

    Regards,

It is better to buy a Swiss Half Fare Card? The price in STC website is 120chf, is this valid for one month ?

    Thank you
