Travel pass and time needed for Titlis and Pilatus
Farzoozoo is traveling to Zurich next week for two excursions: a drive to Lucerne for the Golden Round Trip to Mount Pilatus, and a train trip to Mount Titlis. They need advice on parking in Lucerne, the duration of their excursions, and whether to get a 3-day Swiss Travel Pass.
- Park your car under Lucerne railway station, right next to the boat dock for Pilatus.
- Allow about half a day for the round trip from Lucerne to Pilatus, ensuring you return to Zurich by 5:30 PM.
- Taking the train for both excursions could save hassle and offer better views; consider using the Swiss Travel Pass.
- For Mount Titlis, the destination is Engelberg, but parking options should be checked in advance.
- Given the limited train use, the Swiss Half Fare Card may be more cost-effective than the Swiss Travel Pass.

Hi, I am traveling to Zurich next week and will be doing two excursions.
One day we will be driving to Lucerne and then getting the Golden round trip to Mount Pilatus. Where can we park in Lucerne that is close by where we can get the boat? Also, how long will the round trip take including tobogganing? We need to get back to Zurich by 5.30pm.
Second day we will be traveling to Mount Titlis by train from Zurich. What is the easiest journey? Is there a train station at Mount Titlis? How long do all the activities take once we are there? Like the snow park, glacier etc? And what are the opening times on a Sunday? Is it very cold on the mountain?
Based on the above itinerary, would you recommend we get the 3 day Swiss travel pass?
Many thanks in advance!
