Travel to Mürren with Saver Day Pass

Short summary – read this first

Sherie is planning her trip from Zurich to Murren and is unsure if the Saver Day Pass covers the cable journey from Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp. She also mentions having a Jungfrau travel pass that will start the following day and is looking for clarification on ticket requirements for the cable portion of her trip.

Key takeaways:
  • The Saver Day Pass covers the entire trip to Murren, including the cable ride to Grutschalp.
  • You do not need to purchase a separate ticket for the cable trip; just present your Saver Day Pass when needed.

I have checked this site and can’t find the exception for getting the cable to Murren. We are travelling from Zurich to Murren and I can see the trip is covered to Interlaken, then Lauterbrunnen, but is the cable from Lauterbrunnen to Grutschal, then train to Murren covered by the Saver Day Pass? We will also have a Jungfrau travel pass but it won’t start until the following day.

    Thank you.

    Hi Sherie,

Yes, the Saver Day Pass is valid all the way to Mürren. You can use to travel via the Grutschalp cableway or the cable car via Stechelberg: https://www.myswissalps.com/murren/travel.

You can view and download the Saver Day Pass validity map here: http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass/validity

Using Saver Day Pass to travel from Zurich airport to Murren, I think I need an actual ticket for the part of the trip that’s a cable (Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp). Do I need to get that ticket in advance or just when I arrive in Lauterbrunnen?

    Thanks.

    Hi Sherie,

You can travel Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp with the Saver Day Pass. No need to buy a ticket.

If you download the map from the link Anna provided earlier, you’ll see that it’s included.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

Thanks Yolanda, I know the saver pass covers me all the way to Mürren which is where I’m going. I’m just wondering if I need an actual ticket for the portion that is a cable (I know I don’t need one for the trains)

    thanks.

    Hi there,

Ah, now I understand. Apologies. It could well be that you will need an ‘access’ ticket for the cable car journey. If this is the case, upon arrival, you can just present your Saver Day Pass at the ticket office and they will present you with the necessary.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
