Bachsee hike or Grindelwald Glacier Canyon in Sept

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning an 11-night trip to Switzerland in September, focusing on Wengen for 4 nights, with visits to Lucerne, Montreux, and Zurich. They seek advice on including either the Grindelwald Glacier Canyon or the Bachalpsee Lake hike in their itinerary, while also wanting to explore various attractions around Wengen.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider adding the Grindelwald Glacier Canyon to your itinerary if you enjoy canyon trails.
  • Don’t miss the First Cliff Walk by Tissot at Grindelwald First, especially if you’re not afraid of heights.
  • Check out hiking options in the area to find routes that suit your preferences.

I’m at the beginning stages of planning a Sept 2020 11 night trip to Switzerland. I’m planning on 4 nights with Wengen as a base (also 3 nights in Lucerne, 3 nights in Montreux, 1 night in Zurich). So far on the list of things to do in the Wengen area is:

Wengen to Lauterbrunnen to Schilthorn to Stechelberg, walk to Trumellbach Falls, walk to Lauterbrunnen to see Staubbach Falls then back to Wengen.

We are also considering going to Grindelwald First and possibly walking to Bachalpsee Lake (we’re also hoping to see Mt. Pilatus & Glacier 3000 during our time in Switzerland).

I’m also looking at the Mannlichen to Klein Scheidegg hike while in the Wengen area.

Should we add Grindelwald Glacier canyon? Should we add that instead of the Bachalpsee lake hike?

    Thank you,
