You are right, there seems to be a technical issue. Since I work with SBB, I am going to report it internally.

MGB’s own website is offering tickets just fine:

    Thanks 1960man for checking.

I realized if I booked from MGB there is no super saver rates. I guess I will wait for SBB. The super saver rates savings are quite substantial for a group of 5.

Unfortunately till today I still can’t buy the bus/train ticket from Visp to Zermatt for 13th Nov. I managed to purchase 14th Nov ticket from Zermatt to Interlaken West and Interlaken West to Luzern on the 16th.

    This is extremely depressing.

    Hi Donjoe1000,

I’m sorry for the inconvenience. There could be a technical issue which prevents users to buy tickets for this route online. One option to go around this would be to buy a ticket from Brig to Zermatt. Brig is the station just before Visp so you might have to pay slightly more but not a substantial amount. Supersaver tickets on this route, if available, would also be valid on the bus from Visp to Täsch, then train to Zermatt.

    Regards,

    Anna

Thank you Anna once again for your helpful assistance. Really appreciates!

As suggested, I have checked from Brig to Zermatt. The super saver price doesn’t seems right. It cost $35.20 versus the point to point price of $38. Why would one buy a supersaver at such a price with no refund and specific trains only.

When I plan for my trip in June 2022, I found out that the super saver price from Visp to Zermatt is only at $18 plus versus point to point ticket of $37. Allow me to show you a random date as an example. Brig which is 7 minutes away from Visp cost so much more for the super saver.

    Hi Donjoe1000,

The prices of Supersaver tickets vary depending on demand, date, route and availability. On popular routes, the price difference may not be substantial. If you have a Swiss Half Fare Card, you can buy Supersaver tickets at a much cheaper price.

    Noted with thanks Anna.

Wonder how long will the system be up. It is almost a week already.

I have feedback personally to SBB via the app too.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hi Donjoe1000,

Your screenshots show how Supersaver tickets work: for some routes/departure times they’re available, for others they aren’t at all, and prices can differ significantly. So yes, if you’re lucky you can save quite a lot of money, but that’s absolutely no guarantee. Also note that the prices you see only count if you buy such tickets now. The offers can be different a day or even a couple of hours later.

Anna’s link provides further explanation. The sections about finding prices in the timetable at https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable may be helpful too.

Thank you Arno for your advice and assistance.

At this point, I just wanted to get the ticket and enjoy my trip. If I can get super saver price it will be great.

So looking forward to visit Switzerland! What a beautiful country.

I will be going to Interlaken, Bern, Luzern and Zurich after Zermatt.

It’s a beautiful country for sure :-). Here are some tips for the destinations you’ll be visiting:

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but are you sure you won’t be using a rail pass? Looking at the rest of your plans, you can probably save a whole lot with a rail pass instead of regular tickets. Please see https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses for an overview, and https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass for a guide helping you choose.

Thank you Arno for your great suggestion!

Did considered Swiss Pass however as my stay is short, it is slightly cheaper with individual tickets.

I will get the Swiss Pass on my next trip some where during summer next year. It will be a 12 days trip.

There are just too many places to visit and my wife prefer summer than winter.

Hi again! Good that you’ve been calculating your options. Did you make sure to compare pass options to the regular full fares (and not the discounted ones) of regular tickets? And did you include all transportation, incuding possible side trips by train, bus, boat or mountain transport?

If you won’t be making any side trips during your stay, then yes, normal tickets would be slightly more economical than a rail pass. I just did a quick calculation and the costs of your town-to-town-transfers (assuming Domodossola-Visp-Zermatt, Zermatt-Interlaken, Interlaken-Bern, Bern-Lucerne, Lucerne-Zurich) would come down to about CHF 230 with non-discounted point-to-point tickets. As soon as you hit the CHF 240-mark, you’ll already start saving with a Swiss Half Fare Card. So if you plan any trip or excursion in addition to these transfers, it might make sense to look into that pass: https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard.

Wonderful that you’ll be back in summer next year for a longer stay! Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass could be a good fit then (https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass).
