What to wear in Switzerland in May

Short summary – read this first

Neha is planning a trip to Switzerland from mid-May, visiting Zurich, Interlaken, Geneva, Zermatt, and various mountain ranges. She needs advice on what clothes to pack for her journey, given the variable weather in those areas during that time.

Key takeaways:
  • Layer your clothing, starting with lighter layers and adding a warm jacket on top for mountains where temperatures can vary.
  • Check weather forecasts a few days before your trip to better understand what to expect and help with packing decisions.

HI Neha59! and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I would suggest bringing enough clothes to layer nicely with a warm jacket on top. Mountain ranges especially can range from quite cold to fairly warm at that time of year especially if you get a bright sunny day, but weather can change quickly!

Take a look at our weather page for more details.
It would be best to check the weather forecasts a few days before departure to see what you can expect to help you pack.

    Regards,
    Lucas
