Where to stay in the Jungfraujoch area in May
A traveler is visiting Switzerland for 8 days in mid-May and has planned two days in the Jungfraujoch area, currently booked in Grindelwald. They are seeking advice on whether Interlaken would be a better base for visiting Schilthorn, Lauterbrunnen-Stabbach falls, and Grindelwald, as they will be traveling by rail.
- Stay in Grindelwald for your two-day trip as it provides easy access to Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, and Lauterbrunnen.
- Consider Wengen or Mürren for a more traditional Swiss village experience, though both have limited amenities compared to Grindelwald.
- Don’t miss the Thrill Walk at Birg when you visit Schilthorn, and make sure to see the Trümmelbach Falls en route to Lauterbrunnen.
- The Swiss Travel Pass is a great option for unlimited rail travel and discounted access to many attractions, so consider purchasing it if you plan to use the train a lot.

We are in Switzerland for 8 days mid May. We are spending two days in the Jungfraujoch area. At the moment I have booked our accommodations in Grindelwald, but I’m wondering if Interlaken would be a better central location to stay? We want to visit Schithornbahn Top of Europe, Lauterbrunnen-Stabbach falls and Grindelwald. We will be traveling by rail.
