Zurich Airport to Lindt Shop and Lucerne

Short summary – read this first

Ava T is landing in Zurich around 10:45 am and is wondering if she can visit the Lindt chocolate factory and then quickly explore Lucerne before taking an 18:06 train to Interlaken. She needs guidance on the train connections from the airport and whether the timing is feasible for her plans.

Key takeaways:
  • To visit the Lindt factory, take a train from Zurich airport to Kilchberg; the journey takes about 40 minutes with one change.
  • Make sure to book Lindt tickets in advance during busy seasons like April to secure your spot.
  • After visiting Lindt, expect about an hour's travel by train to Lucerne, giving you some time to explore before your train to Interlaken.

I am landing in Zurich airport around 10:45am. Assuming I clear customs and can get out of airport by noon, do you think I can fit in the Lindt chocolate factory tour, then head to Lucerne to walk quickly around the city and make a 18:06 (6:06pm) train to Interlaken on the golden express? Or is that too tight? Otherwise I may have to forego Lindt 😢.

Also, if I understand correctly, I need to take the train from Zurich airport to Zurich main station to catch the train get Lindt, correct? Or can I get to Lindt directly from the airport?

    Hi Ava T,

Assuming you clear custom within an hour, you might be able to catch the 12.04 connection from the airport to Kilchberg, Lindt & Sprungli which requires just one train change. See screenshot. The journey takes about 40 mins, which gives you enough time to explore the shop and the interactive exhibitions if you plan to leave for Lucerne by 3 pm. From Kilchberg it takes about an hour to reach Lucerne by train. So if you arrive around 4-ish, that will give you enough time to explore Lucerne before your 18.06 train to Interlaken. A personal tip: If you’re visiting the Lindt Shop in April, you might want to book your tickets advance. During Easter and the spring break, demand is quite high and visitors are allocated time slots for the tour.
