Thank you for the tip! I am definitely considering Geneva and then going to Montreux and also over to Annecy.

 

Would there be any kind of nice, quite easy accessible startingpoint for a hike, on around 1500-2000 meter or maybe to a nice hidden lake in the areas of Montreux/Lausanne etc? 🙂

I would be happy if it would only be one hike that is a little more challenging.

Just so that I can get to a startingpoint with train or bus, and then I can hike my way up to a summit or to a nice smaller mountain lake for example.

I totally agree, it’s worth it for the convenience if you intend to use the train/bus often. And it also gives you discounts on a lot of funiculars/cable cars.

I always buy it when I go to Switzerland 🙂

And sometimes they offer discounts on the Swiss Travel Pass, so keep your eyes out a little bit before going, maybe you can get it a bit cheaper!

 

Some people will maybe argue that you can save a little bit on buying separate tickets etc, but for me it’s worth the little bit of extra money to just have to use the same ticket everywhere. No hassle at all.

I can recommend taking the train to Appenzell region and walk to Seealpsee 🙂

 

Take the train from Zurich to Wasserau station and then hike to Seealpsee.

 

I did it in mid March in 2022 and was no problem, so should be good in April.

Thank you very much for your input and help! 🙂 Sounds very good to hear about the hike to Rotstock, so I will definitely give it a go if the weather is nice.

And thanks a lot for the great tip about the Berghaus Bäregg. Grindelwald is my favorite valley and this route is completely new to me. So if I get a chance to do something new in that area, I will do it! 🙂 So I will definitely give this one a go.

I also just read a quite long review on it on some kind of blog. But as you say, doesn’t look like it’s a very common route.

I will have more looks later and decide when I’m at place 🙂 If I decide to go, I can definitely revert with a short report and some pictures of it!

I have been thinking about just hiking some around Spiez actually, so it’s a good suggestion 🙂 I have been to Oechinensee, I forgot to mention that. But I wouldn’t mind going there again, it’s one of my favourite places in Switzerland! 🙂

Thanks for the tip about hiking from Grütschalp. I think I will do that instead of taking the transport all the way to Mürren 🙂

And from Mürren, I will hike up to the Rotstockhütte maybe. And the way back, let’s see which way I take! 🙂 Thanks a lot for the tip again!

Thanks Anna 🙂 I think for this trip, in March or April (depending on what I decide), I will go for Ticino. It’s on my bucket list, so then I can do another region in the summer 🙂

Would you say that Lugano is the best town to proceed from, or is maybe Locarno a better option?

Ah, I thought it would be snow at the time. But if it’s no snow, that is even better! I just assumed that there would be snow, hence my title and initial question 🙂 When I was walking to Schynige Platte in June there was still some snow, so that’s why I thought it would be more snow in March/April.

So if anyone got some more good suggestions at 1500-2500 m, which doesn’t have to include snow, I am more than happy to take that also! 🙂

Do you think there is any risk that also Switzerland will introduce the same kind of restrictions/requirements as for example Cyprus, when it comes to providing a negative test or a covid passport even just for going to the supermarkets?

I soooo want to go in August (6th of August), but I only have one shot of the vaccine so I am not fully vaccinated in case anything like that would happen. And taking a test just for shopping food seems so strange…

So I really don’t know if I should wait and re-book my flight to September instead, when I am fully vaccinated, or if I should go in August as initially planned.

Is it correct that “only” a negative rapid antigen test is needed at the moment for someone from Sweden? That is max. 48 hours old.

When I checked a few weeks ago, only a negative PCR test was valid. Has it been changed? 🙂

*Edit: And does it have to be a specific/certain type of brand on the test?

Traveling over to Austria or Italy would also have been nice, but it’s hard to plan already now due to the situation with the pandemic.

But I am still up for more ideas of where to stay! If you have a favorite valley/city to stay for nice hikes in the area.

Great, thank you! Booked 3 nights in Brunnen, 2 nights will be in Lucerne 🙂 So my main hikes will be Fronalpstock (all the way from Brunnen) and hopefully a good day at Mt Pilatus.

Still havent decided where to go 🙂

Is there another village like 1-2 hours away from Zurich by train (Doesn’t have to be in Switzerland) that offers maybe 2-3 hikes with great views that you can walk directly from the village?

I prefer to be able to start the hikes directly from the village/town and not have to take a train/bus to a specific destination before starting my hikes.

My idea is hiking Burglauenen – Schynige platte. Do you think that this trail is open?

And then I take First cable in the afternoon.

Do you think it’s possible?
