    Hello Esk79b and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

    Nice to hear the two of your are coming to explore Switzerland.

    Your itinerary really looks nice, covering lots of top destinations as well as not too rushed. Well done.

    For days 5 and 6 please use below links for inspiration. You can take the Golden Pass scenic train from Interlaken towards Montreux. Montreux is also a very valid alternative to stay for that night, if you don’t want to head directly to Geneva. Or look at Lausanne, slightly closer to Geneva for the last day.

    You will find inspiration about “What to do” on each of the pages above.

    The Swiss Travel Pass for 8 days offers you two additional days you won’t be needing. Maybe consider using a Saver Day Pass on the first and last day, which would allow you to buy a 4 day Swiss Travel Pass and might be a valid option for you.

    After looking at multiple posts, I am slightly confused what are the best mountain peaks to visit.

    As we’re going to buy Swiss Pass, I am just wondering what’s the best deal. Based on what I’ve read, I need to spend additional amount to visit most of these.

    1. Mt.Pilatus (need to pay additional amount of 28 Pounds/person for Train & Cable Car)

    2. Stanserhorn (Free with Swiss pass)

    3. Mt.Titlis (need to pay additional amount of 45 Pounds/person for Cable Car)

    4. Jungfrau (Using Swiss pass, need to pay additional amount of 120 Pounds/person for cogwheel train). If we have Half Fare Card, it’s costing around 80 pounds per person.

    5. Klein Matterhorn (need to pay additional amount of 42 Pounds/person for Cable Car)

    I would like to explore places which are different from each other. Can you please help me in this

    Stef,

    Our plan is to visit the main attractions Zurich, Lucerne (Mt. Titlis,Mt.Pilatus), Interlaken (Jungfrau) in the first 4 days and do a panaromic train tour on Day 5 & 6.

    Also, regarding the Panaromic Train journey, I am planning to take Golden pass route on Day 4, when I go from Lucerne to Interlaken . On Day 5 & 6, I am planning to view the most scenic train routes (Parts of Golden pass, Bernina Express, Glacier Express). I have my flight at 8:50 pm(Local time) from geneva which means I should be in airport by at least 6pm. Can you Please help me in suggesting the best way to cover the most scenic train routes

    I did some research on various Swiss Passes

    DAY PASS -> 59 CHF with Half Fare

    day pass -> 106 CHF without Half Fare card

    Travel Pass ->

    Adult

    281.00 CHF -> 4 Day

    418.00 CHF -> 8 Day

    Youth

    240.00 CHF -> 4 Day

    357.00 CHF -> 8 Day

    Swiss Half Fare Card – 1 Month Validity

    120 CHF

    we’re planning for 6 day trip.

    Option 1 : 8-Day Travel pass (Total 418 + 357 = 775 CHF)

    Only disadvantage compared to Half Fare Card is Jungfrau. Jungfrau is Less expensive using Half Fare Card

    Option 2 : 4 Day Travel pass plus Half Fare Card ( Total 281+240+120+120 = 761 CHF)

    Option 3: 4 Day Travel pass plus Day Saver Pass without Half Fare Card ( Total 281+240+106*2 Days+106*2 Days= 945 CHF)

    * 106 CHF per day for Saver pass Price without Half fareCard

    Option 4: 4 Day Travel pass plus Day Saver Pass with Half Fare Card (Total 281+240+120+59*2 + 120 + 59*2 )

    *120 CHF – Half Fare Card Price

    * 59 CHF per days for Saver pass with Half fareCard

    Based on above Data, I felt Swiss Travel Pass looks more suitable. Please correct me if I am wrong with the above data. Can you please help me in suggesting the best Swiss Pass Options.

    Really sorry for such a long post. I tried to give as much detailed information as possible which made it very long

    Hello Esk79b,

    Mountain destinations are what I call “same-same but different”, so it’s hard to say.

    Some have snow all year round (Titlis, Jungfraujoch, Klein Matterhorn)

    Some are reached by cable car only (Titlis and Stanserhorn and Klein Matterhorn) and

    others are reached by cablecar and/or cogwheel train (Pilatus, Jungfraujoch)

    See:

    For detailed comparison of rail passes and tickets please use the very helpful spreadsheet in below link:

    Best,
    Steph
