Hi Rimpy22,
What a nice Dad, offering this adventure to his son! 🙂
You don’t say how long you want to drive to get there, remember, Switzerland is small.
Thun, Bern, Lausanne, Montreux all possible and accessible on quite easy roads. Check the “What to do” tab for input on activities in each destination.

Hi Steph
Thanks for your reply. I want to do one day trip to a destination with in 2 hours drive from Interlaken . I will be driving for first time in Europe and on right side roads. Want to drive on roads having less traffic and scenic drive. Please suggest suitable destinations around Interlaken. Do I need to buy Motor Vignette for hired car.

Hi Rimpy,
I think Bern is still a valid option to consider with your requirements. Also maybe look into Murten, a slightly longer drive, whereas both take you along the Lake of Thun, a wonderful scenic ride.

You shouldn’t need to buy a Motorway Vignette for a rented car, they’re normally equipped with one. If you want to avoid motorways in order to avoid trafic and increase scenery, you can choose “avoid Vignette” in the Options of viamichelin.
Maybe other members have ideas to share too, let’s see.
Best,
Steph

Hi Steph
Drive to Murten looks good. I checked on google it is around 1 hour 10 minutes and one can go via Bern also. How is idea of driving to Luzern and to Mt Pilatus. I drive well but I’m concerned about traffic and parking .

Hello Rimpy,
I up to now didn’t mention the direction of Lucerne, because the most scenic journey is via the Brünig Pass, a pass which is not incredibly hard to drive, but nevertheless a mountain pass, which you said you’d like to avoid.
It is a very scenic drive, but the driver will have to concentrate on the many curves and the traffic.
