Hi BPTraveler and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!
I, personally would prefer Grindelwald as you also wrote, that would give you a little bit more flexibility and also there might be a bit better weather. But anyway, I doubt Mürren will be quiet or boring during Eastern holidays 🙂
If you stay in Mürren, you should expect snow there.
You can read more about the Swiss weather at http://www.myswissalps.com/weather.
Something else: Are you going to have a rail pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass)?
Take care,
Ildiko

Thanks for your response. It’s very helpful. I guess we will go with Grindelwald and just visit Murren. The snow won’t bother us and the kids will think it’s neat! It is a tough decision because both accommodations that I have reserved seem nice.
I am still working on whether we get the half fare pass or the Swiss pass. I have found your spreadsheet and plan to work with it once the fares are released for our visit. Is it right they only release them 60 days ahead?

I think you cannot go wrong, both places (Mürren and Grindelwald) is beautiful 🙂
Yes, the spreadsheet (http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass) is useful. Make sure to read the guide here first: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable. It teaches you how to use the SBB timetable.
You can already start calculating, just use the normal prices (not the discounted SuperSaver Tickets because they run out quickly) for any random days as close to your traveling dates as you can. The normal price of a point to point tickets do not vary.
You find more details about the SuperSaver Tickets at http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland.
