    Hi,

I am taking 3 days’ STP and want to do Mt. Rigi , Mt. Pilatus and Mt. Titlis as well golden pass rail during this span.

So I would like to know which two mountains can be combined in one single day so that next day we can do some sight-seeing at Lucerne as well ?

My next question is , what is the best way to take advantage of a single day to do golden pass rail? I have read somewhere that you should take some fast train to interlaken and then descend with golden pass rails ,so how does it work ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Geet,

That’s pretty ambitious for 3 days, but it can be done (if weather is good enough of course). If I were you I’d combine Rigi and Pilatus in one day. This way you’ll have another day for Titlis plus a visit to Lucerne, and a third day for the Golden Pass ride. The timetable (https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable) will help you to plan your trips. During your preparations, you can also check the “Route” tabs of each of our attraction pages:

Lucerne-Meiringen-Interlaken is part of the Golden Pass route, so you could travel that segment to enjoy at least a part of the route. Of course you can extend your trip further south to Zweisimmen or Montreux. You’d best check myswissalps.com/golden pass/gettingthere and play with the timetable to find out what fits your schedule.

    Hi Annika,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I just checked the time table and realized that if we leave from Luzern at 7.00/8.00 for montreux by IR 15 train via Lausanne we reach montreux in 3 hours. Then we descend with the golden pass IR train at 13.44 which will take 5hrs11 mins. from Montreux to Luzern via Zweisimmen and Interlaken ost. We will reach Luzern at 18.55 .Thus We can cover the whole route. Do you think it’s advisable?

Also the connection time at Zweisimmen is only 6 mins. to change from platform 8 to 12. Is that doable ?

Would you recommend seat reservation for the whole return journey or only for distance between Zweisimmen and Montreux?

In case this is tiresome we may forego one mountain of these three. Which one do you suggest we leave out if the need be?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Geet.

    Hello Geet,

Yes, the circuit you describe from Lucerne to Lausanne and then from Montreux back via Golden Pass is doable.

Reservation is only recommended for the Montreux – Zweisimmen leg but feel free to reserve the entire journey:

As the train station in Zweisimmen is fairly small the changing time should be fine providing the trains are on time (which they normally are!)
Just make sure you are ready at the door with your luggage when the train pulls in.

I personally would recommend doing Titlis for the snow experience for sure and then Mount Pilatus, should the Golden Round Trip be open (sometime mid/end May) and otherwise Mount Rigi.
