Hi,

We are a family of 5 people travelling to Switzerland in August. We wish to take the Golden Pass Train from Montreux to Interlaken. We will buy Swiss Pass.

I have 3 questions please:

1) Will it be possible for us to buy the Swiss Pass on our arrival at Geneva Airport. and use it immediately to travel on the train to Montreux. Is buying the Swiss Passes a quick process, or it can take sometime?

2) Do we need to pre-book our seats in the Golden Pass Train so that we ensure that we (5 people) are allocated seats near each other? What would be the chance that we don't find enough seats or we find scattered seat in different carriages (First or Second class)?

3) We will have 5 pieces of luggage (3 large and 2 cabin-size). Will there be enough space to store our luggage during the trip from Montreux to Interlaken? Will this luggage area be on the same train carriage where we are seated?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Ahmed502,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! As for your questions:

1) You can either buy it in Switzerland or online; all options are explained in detail on the Swiss Pass page. Don't forget to check the promotion section too. There can be a queue at the rail station causing it to take a while, but it's hard to say how much time it takes when you arrive.

2) No, you don't need to book seats. Please see the Golden Pass page. Just be at the station in time and it should be fine to get seats for the 5 of you.

3) There is enough space on board for luggage, but I don't know exactly if you can keep all of it near you in that specific train. It will depend on how many travelers there are and if they have lots of luggage too. Many carriages have areas for luggage near the doors, so you can pick seats near such an area to keep an eye on it. This page may be helpful too: www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage

Enjoy your train journey!
