Hi I have one extra day in zermatt. I have a Swiss travel pass. Pls suggest which nearby place should I visit, so that I can reach back zermatt by 7pm. How early should I go there in morning?? I’m visiting zermatt on 17th nov.

can I visit lucerne from there or any other scenic place.

second do I need to pay for scenic trains like glacier express even if I have Swiss pass??

third pls suggest what are the things we can do in zermatt. We have only decided to visit gornergrat via train and the cable car ride. Is there any thing else we can do there??

    thanks

    Hi Prasunog –

The timetable will help you, plus a map.

    map.search.ch/

Zermatt to Montreux – 2 hrs 39 minutes twice per hour.

Zermatt to Bern – via upper scenic route via Kandersteg – 3 hrs 7 minutes. Once per hopur on the upper route. Faster through the new tunnel. The inside of the tunnel is not very scenic. 😉 2hrs 10 or 2hrs 17 minutes, twice per hour.

Zermatt to Luzern – 3 hrs 23 minutes or 3 hrs 42 minutes, twice per hour.

Zermatt to Lauterbrunnen – 4 hrs 12 minutes via Kandersteg; 2 hrs 48 minutes via the Lötschberg basis tunnel, once per hour.

Zermatt to Locarno – 4 hrs 10 minutes.

Brig and Sion are closer, and are nice to walk around for an hour or perhaps a few hours. At Sion (just under 2 hours away,), climb the hill to the ruins. Neither is very large. Brig is one hour and 19 minutes away.

All go through Visp, which is one hour and 8 minutes away.

    Hope that helps.

Various hiking trails close to Zermatt will probably be accessible too. You’d better ask the tourist office about the conditions when you’re there. The Matterhorn Museum and Blauherd cable car will unfortunately be closed.
