Hello pollyburks and Welcome to MySwissAlps,
You can make seat reservations usually up to 90 days out from travel at http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelca rds-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/seat-reservations.html or see http://www.myswissalps.com/go tthardpanoramaexpress/ tickets.
There is one GPE departure a day in each direction. See attached. Use those train departure times to make reservations.
You can only make reservations for the train, not the steamer.
You can buy tickets from 30 days out up to the point you board. Or if you have a Swiss Travel Pass you don’t need a ticket.
1st Class on the boat gets you access to the top deck and dining room.

Removed userParticipant72625 posts27 February 2018 at 18:07:11 #877186Or maybe they are called the Saver Day Pass?
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts27 February 2018 at 19:54:47 #877187Yes, you can use a Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/on edaytravelpass/details) for the Gotthard Panorama Express.
But where does this fit in your overall itinerary? Maybe some other Pass is suitable for you.
Have you read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass)?

1.Can you send me updated excel sheet for rail pass calculation for 2018 .
2.Regarding Gotthard express from Lugano to Fluelen and then by boat to Lucerne, how to buy tickets? I tried SBB site for the month of June and do not get any option, whether the rail ticket covers the cost of boat trip also? what is reservation cost if done directly at SBB, Happy rail is quoting 33 CHF which seems to be very high.
3.If I do not travel by Gotthard( it has a very mixed reviews , specially for 2nd class) and want to travel by other trains to Fluelen, what will be the scenic route?
I understand I will be able to use boat from Fluelen to Lucerne irrespective of Gotthard express.
Thanks.
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts15 March 2018 at 3:24:28 #8771891. The 2018 spreadsheet is downloadable here http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass
2. GPE reservation cost is CHF24 from SBB. You can’t reserve on boat.
3. Same route as GPE. Lugano to Flüelen via Göschenen. The GPE boat is just a regular steamer so anyone can use it irrespective of whether you travel on GPE or not.
For a lengthy discussion on the trials an tribulations of booking on the GPE see http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/how-to-book-a-full-fare-ticket-on-the-gotthard-exp.
