    hello,

I would like to ask which pass is more worth for us in 3 days.

“saver day pass” vs “Swiss travel pass” for 3 days ,

Saver day pass seems much cheaper then three days pass if i buy in advance

    thanks

    Hi Patrohpp,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! Note that many restrictions apply to the Saver Day Pass: availability is limited, prices vary, and it is not refundable. If you manage to buy 3 of them for the lowest price it will cost you CHF 156. A 3-day Swiss Travel Pass costs CHF 225 or a bit less depending on where you buy it: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price. But it comes with discounts on many mountain excursions (some even free). The Saver Day Pass does not include these excursions.

To get discounts on trips to the mountains you would also need a Swiss Half Fare Card. You would then spend CHF 207 on the Swiss Half Fare Card and 3 Saver Day Passes, again only if you manage to get them for the lowest price. The Swiss Travel Pass is a much simpler option and also includes free entrance to hundreds of museums.

In the end it depends on your exact itinerary, but in many cases the Swiss Travel Pass is the best option, and the Saver Day Pass comes in handy for an extra day (e.g. to have 9 days with an 8-day pass).

The below pages help you find all the details:

    Hi,

Thanks heaps for quick reply, we couple visiting Switz on October. We will spend one day lucerne and rest two days may be Geneva, bern, interlakan and Zurich and we don’t have time for museums. Mostly travel by train around places. So thought of saving 150 bucks to save for two . Thinking of visit switz next time with seven days in hand fhen realistic to use lengthy travel pass. Still confused what to do. Next month will decide when booking opens. If any suggestion please advise.,Thanks again

    Hi Patro,

If it’s just city visits during this short trip (and perhaps Mount Rigi as it’s free with both passes), then your Saver Day Pass plan may work if you can get the lowest price. If you plan to visit other peaks you can best do the math as explained in my last link. Good luck deciding!

    Hi Patro,

once you’ve decided on your itinerary you can better decide which pass is best for you. If you have limited or no trips into the mountains, and can buy the Saver Day pass at a low price point then it may be best – up to the itinerary in the end!

    Hi,

I’am newbie here. Need info regarding swiss pas, me and husband will be visiting swiss from 7-11 august.

7 agt : just take the train from Zurich to Lucerne : Intercity 2663 – 04:35 PM ZUERICH HB – 05:25 PM LUZERN (EUR 48)

8 agt : going to mt titlis from lucerne, then to interlaken

    9 agt : strolling jungfrau

    10 agt : interlaken – bern

    11 agt : bern – geneva by train in the morning (Bern (Ch) – Geneva(CFF) by train “IC” : 07.53 – 09.45 EUR 95).

I was thinking of buying swiss travel for 3 days (196/.pax at http://www.raileurope-world.com) which will be used starting from the 8th to the 10th. as far as I know, this pass will be useful in mt titlis and jungfrau (can get a discount). should I buy the pass now or at zurich station? as long as my knowledge there is no discount for this pass and the price will be the same whether purchased at this time or later. and whether with this pass then we can ride the train according to the time we want and already guaranteed to be a seat?

please guide to using the pass to the full with that route (it looks like we will not visit the museum).

    thanks in advance.

Hi Dwi Hastuty and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I think it is always more convenient to buy the Swiss Travel Pass online, any of these retailers are recommended: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price

If bought online, they can email it to you for printing at home (saving time at the airport as you can go straight to the trains) and you then have a back up copy to print at home in case yours gets lost.

    Hi Patro,

This link shows you which mountains are covered free or partially on the Swiss Travel Pass: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ validity

Schilthorn (https://www.myswissalp s.com/schilthorn), Stanserhorn (https://www.myswissalp s.com/stanserhorn) and Rigi (https://www.myswissalp s.com/rigi) are three popular mountains that are totally free with the Swiss Travel Pass this year.

Schilthorn is in the Jungfrau Region (https://www.myswissalp s.com/jungfrauregion) and the other two are close to Lucerne.

You can find travel times to and between the mountains with the Swiss railways timetable here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable
