    Hi everyone.

I am intending to come over with my wife.

Can i just check on these matters?

    1) Can i buy 1 half fare pass and buy 2 TOP OF EUROPE PASS at half price? or i have to have 1 half fare pass each for me and my partner?

    2) Ill be in Switzerland for maybe 4-5 days. And most probably Ill be around the interlake/grindewald area. Is the half fare pass + top of europe pass recommended/ enough?

Any help is recommended. Thank you

The Swiss Half Fare Card is personal and each passenger must have its own card.

Hi mike93 and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

If you have a Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard) you can buy the Top of Europe Pass discounted, but not half price. The 4 days Top of Europe Pass will cost you 179 CHF instead of 269 CHF.

You might want to have a look at the Jungfrau Travel Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass. A 25% discount applies to the pass price if you have a valid Swiss Half Fare Card. See the prices here: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/price. This pass is cheaper than the Top of Europe Pass, the 4 days long pass would cost you 158 CHF instead of 213 CHF. Make sure to check the validity area of this pass, it is a bit different than the validity area of the Top of Europe Pass. You can check the validity area of the Jungfrau Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity.

But, if you are visiting only the Jungfrau region (http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrauregion), you might not need any other passes, just a regional pass. You can calculate your pass options here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/groupdiscounts. Where are you coming from to the Jungfrau region? From Zurich Airport?

    Hi!

Ill be landing in Geneve Airport, spent half a day before heading to Interlaken/Grindewald Area around 4+ pm. Would appreciate any tips for transport.

For the rest of the first day will just walk around the area.

Looking to spend the whole day at Top of Europe or around there.

Im not too sure how long will be enough and where to head from there. Looking to head to Zurich or is there any nice places to drop by before reaching Zurich

    alright this is my plan.

    Land in Geneve (A)

Head to Grindewald/Interlaken (B), gg to jungfrauyoch

Followed By Lucerne (C), gg to mount pilatus.

    Zurich (D)

Whats the best/cheapest way to head from A to B to C to D? And of course recommended rail passses

    Hi mike93,

from Geneva you can reach Interlaken as follows: Geneva – Bern – Interlaken. This route takes 3 hrs.

If you have more time, and recommend this route, as it is more scenic in my opinion: Geneva – Montreux – Zweisimmen – Spiez – Interlaken. This route is more scenic but takes longer 5hrs 15 mins. The Montreux – Interlaken part is the route of the Golden Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass. But in this case you have less time to spend in Geneva.

You can check the traveling times in the timetable. If you are not familiar with the SBB timetable, start here: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

From the Jungfrau area you can travel to Zurich via Bern (2hrs) or via Lucerne (2hrs50 mins). Both are nice.

Nice. Thanks for the help this far.

    Last question.

Pass recommendations for the itinerary I just mentioned?

    Hi mike93,

A Swiss Travel Pass might be a good option if you want to avoid buying tickets for each trip. With the Swiss Travel Pass, get unlimited travel on public transportation (train, boats, bus) and discounted travel on mountain transportation. Based on your plans, the only ticket you need to arrange in advance are discounted the tickets to Jungfraujoch and Mt Pilatus.

Alternatively, you can also use the Swiss Half Fare Card. This allows you to purchase discounted tickets for all your trips and excursions. It does mean however that your need to buy tickets for each trip. So a little more hassle but might be cost effective.

You can do a cost comparison using a spreadsheet included in this quick guide: How to choose the best railpass.

    Regards,

    Anna
