    Hello All,

I will be planning to buy a 2nd class STP for our upcoming trip next May. We are planning to go visit Mt Pilatus from Luzern. Will the STP cover the costs of the cable car and cogwheel train? Will it be free? Also, do we need to actually go and purchase tickets at the ticket booth, even with a STP?

I understand that most of the time, no ticket purchases are required when traveling on trains, if one has a STP. However, for boat cruises in Luzern, or cogwheel/cable car to Mt Rigi , do we need to purchase tickets at the place or simply walk to our cable car/cogwheel train?

Just a little confused as when we would need to purchase tickets as opposed to just walking on boats, trains etc.

    Thanking all in advance,

    Louise

    Hi suitcase,

The Swiss Travel Pass provides free travelling on local public transport. This includes local trins, trams and boats. For privately run mountain transportation such as cogwheel trains and cable cars, you can buy discounted tickets (up to 50%) if you have a Swiss Travel Pass. But there are certain mountain transportation that are free with the Swiss Travel Pass. These include the train to Rigi and cable car to Stanserhorn. YOu can view and download the Swiss Travel Pass validity map here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity

Based on your plans, with the Swiss Travel Pass you only need discounted tickets for the ride up to Mt Pilatus (cogwheel train + cable car). You can purchase the discounted tickets at the counter. Be sure to show your Swiss Travel Pass before making payment. You can find more information here: http://www.myswissalps.com/pilatus/tickets

You can find further details on how to use the Swiss Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse

Let us know if you need further information:

    Regards,

    Anna

We purchased this offer on day one of the sale. Our tickets are dated for four days next April. We received an email confirmation but not the PDF email which is our tickets. Has anyone else received a PDF if they purchased the deal for use next spring? We have two different explanations from the seller.

Your order is being processed and will be sent to you by the requested mode of dispatch. Please note that this booking confirmation is not a ticket. We will send out your tickets as soon as possible. During times of high volume we reserve the right to prioritize orders by departure date. In all other cases, we aim to dispatch tickets ordered for postal or courier delivery no later than 2 weeks before the start date of the ticket. In the case of e-tickets, you will receive a link via email to a PDF file with your ticket within minutes of purchasing.

    and…

Type of delivery: Online Ticket. Your order will be processed and a PDF link for printing your ticket will be sent to your email address at least 7 workings days prior to departure, unless your order was received less than 7 days before. Please remember to check your Spam Folder, should you not receive our email with the PDF link in the stipulated time. This email is confirmation of your order, it is NOT a valid travel document.

Just wondering if anyone else received a PDF ticket

    Hi Nstpie,

Usually pdf tickets are sent directly. But if your start date is more than 6 month ahead when purchasing, then they’ll probably e-mail your pdf passes as soon as it’s 6 months from your start date. Might that be the case?

Hi, thanks for the tips. We are 1st time Switzerland travelers. We are travelling to Switzerland with details below:

2/2 arrive in Switzerland, will have to travel from airport to Zurich for our hotel.

3/2 arrive from zurich to interlaken.

    6/2 from interlaken to Lucerne.

    8/2 from Lucerne to Zurich.

    9/2 from Zurich to airport.

We are looking to go to Top of Europe potentially from Grindelwald. We are also looking to travel places that showed up from Netflix series Crush Landing on you.

Can I please ask what is our best approach for the Swiss Travel Pass? Do we get a 8 days pass each adult or can we do 2 x 4 days pass per adult while this is on special at the moment?

or do we even need 8 days pass given our 1st day and last day is travelling from Zurich to and from airport only. I am not sure how much it will cost us for just the trip from the airport.

Thank you for your help in advance.

    Hi Vivalicous!

A 6-day Swiss Travel Pass could be right for you: https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price. The trips between Zurich and Zurich Airport are relatively short and inexpensive, so no need for a Swiss Travel Pass on those days. More tips to help you find the right pass can be found at https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

By the way, two 4-day Swiss Travel Passes are more expensive than one 8-day Swiss Travel Pass, even with the current promotion.

Some information about the destinations you have in mind:

    Does this get you started?

    HI,

I am a mother of two children (13 and 14 years old). How should I go about buying the Swiss Travel Pass? Can I buy an adult pass and the two children can tag to me as with a family card?

Thanks.. 1st time travelling to Switzerland and hope all will be well.

If I want to book on the Glacier Express 1st class cabin, do i need to hold a Swiss Travel Pass (1st Class)??

Thanks for answering to my queries.
