Hello Linda,
Sure you can go without pre-booking. Just buy a half-fare ticket on the day from Wengen Station.

Thanks Rockoyster. Do you know if Wengen is a manned station or is there a machine that will issue tickets using the half fare card ?

Thank you. So much helpful advice for a couple of oldies from Australia who want to make the most of our trip to Switzerland

Your welcome, I’m an “oldie” from Australia. MySwissAlps made my first trip to Switzerland a great experience and I’ve been kicking around here ever since. You might find Switzerland is just a little bit addictive.

So, after checking weather the previous day, If I decide to go to station and buy ticket for Jounfraujoch, how do I buy seat selection at the station? Will I get option to add seat selection while making purchase?

Hi Jakey,
Indeed no seat selection. That’s not required for the best view anyway as most of the route is inside a tunnel 😉
