Travelling from Colmar, France on December 26th and would like to see some beautiful sites around Switzerland (Glacier lakes and mountainous views). I have identified 2 itineraries below. Please let me know which is better based on our criteria. Family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters, we prefer a walk-able city with restaurant options, non-skiers in route to Austria via Zurich on Dec 29. I understand December 26th is a holiday in that part of Europe – will trains, shops and restaurants have more of Sunday schedule or will things be closed?

Option 1: Day 1: Travel from Colmar to Interlaken to Grindelwald to Jungfrau or other nearby areas. Return to Interlaken and travel by train to Zurich Accommodation. Day 2: Travel from Zurich to Lucerne and surrounding areas and return to Zurich.

Option 2: Travel from Colmar to Interlaken to Grindelwald to Jungfrau or other nearby areas. Return to Interlaken or Grindelwald and stay over night. Day 2: Travel from Interlaken or Grindelwald to Lucerne for day trip and then onto Zurich for Accommodation.

Thanks in Advance. I’m overwhelmed 🙂
