Your journey to First

The gondolas to First leave from the valley station in Grindelwald, which can be reached train or car.

How to reach First

The summit of First can be reached by 6-seater gondolas. They leave from the village of Grindelwald and get you up to First in 25 minutes.

The gondola valley station is at a 10-minute walk from the railway station, along Grindelwald’s main shopping street. Alternatively, you can use one of the frequent buses from the rail station to the gondola valley station. This ride takes only 2 minutes.

Along the gondola ride, you can get off at the stations of Bort and Schreckfeld, where several activities are available.

Dates of operation

The gondolas to First operate until 29 October 2023. There's a maintenance break from 30 October to 8 December 2023. The gondolas start operating again on 9 December 2023.

TIMETABLE

Find train and bus schedules for your trip. Grindelwald’s main rail station is simply called ‘Grindelwald’. The bus stop closest to the gondola valley station is ‘Grindelwald, Firstbahn’. The top station is referred to as ‘First (Grindelwald)'. The stations half-way up are ‘Bort (Firstbahn)’ and ‘Schreckfeld (Firstbahn)’.
