The route

This hike starts with a wonderful view over the village of Kandersteg from Allmenalp. About 20 minutes later there is a beautiful panorama of the Balmhorn and Rinderhorn. On your way to Kandersteg, you will also see Lake Oeschinen and the Gastern valley in the distance.

You will first walk near the tree line and then end up at a forest path running along the wild Alpbach river, surrounded by canyon-like high rockwalls on the opposite side. The last part of this hike runs through the valley and is nearly flat.

Most of the paths are easy, but there's a rocky descending trail from Usser Üschene to Eggeschwand which requires concentration.
