How to get to Sulwald and route details.

How to get there and back

You first need to travel to the small village of Isenfluh. From here, a small cable car takes you up to Sulwald. Isenfluh can be reached by bus from Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen can be reached by train or car from Interlaken, or from Grindelwald via Zweilütschinen. Although Isenfluh can be reached by car, drivers are advised to park in Lauterbrunnen and take the bus from there. This way you don't have to drive on the narrow road and you will be able to get back to your car quickly on the way back.

A cable car takes you from Grütschalp to the rail station in Lauterbrunnen. There is a train to Mürren as well. Alternatively, you may want to walk to Mürren.

Route

In order to reach the viewing point, you need to turn right after leaving the cable car station and follow the road for about 500 m (1,600 ft) until the sharp bend to the left. The viewing point is just off the road on your right. You can see Interlaken, Wilderswil and even the Wetterhorn near Grindelwald. Schynige Platte can be seen just across.

Then you walk back to the gondola and follow the signs to Grütschalp from here. Pay close attention to the trails on the detailed map as there are multiple trails in this area. The hike continues with a considerable ascent through a forest. You will cross some meadows before reaching the unspoilt Sous valley. A path through the forests leads you to Grütschalp.
