Must-knows about hotels in Lauterbrunnen

  • Lauterbrunnen is small. Most hotels are within a 10-minute walk from the rail station and the Grütschalp cable car station.
  • Some hotels have rooms with views of the Staubbach waterfall.
  • You’ll get a free Guest Card for discounts on local trips. Most rail passes grant better discounts in a larger area.
  • Consider Interlaken, Mürren of Wengen instead if you’re looking for luxury accommodation.

Where to stay in Lauterbrunnen

Nearly all hotels are close to the rail station

Lauterbrunnen is a small village. The train and cableway stations are in the north of the village.

Most hotels are 10 minutes on foot or less from these stations. This is convenient, as these spots are the place to start your day trips in the mostly car-free Jungfrau Region.

More information about traveling in and around Lauterbrunnen is available here.

Rooms looking out over the Staubbach waterfall

Some, but not all hotels in Lauterbrunnen have rooms with views of the Staubbach Fall. Check your room description before booking if such as view is important to you.

Free local transport

The hotels provide a free Guest Card when checking in. The card provides various discounts on local attractions and cableways. You’ll usually get a better discount on more attractions in a wider area if you own a rail pass.

Alternatives for more luxury

Most hotels in Lauterbrunnen are in the low to medium price range. If you want more luxurious accommodation, check nearby Wengen, Mürren or Interlaken instead.

Traveling, hiking and photographing in the Swiss Alps are my absolute favorite activities.
